Addressing Population and Development Issues
to Attain Sustainable Development
APDA is a public interest incorporated foundation which works on population and development issues by drawing on research and surveys.
APDA serves as the Secretariat of the Japan Parliamentarians Federation for Population (JPFP) and conducts distinctive projects focusing on the role of parliamentarians who represent the people,
in close partnership with its counterparts in Asia, Africa, Arab and other regions.
In April 1974, a group of Japanese parliamentarians, who were deeply concerned about population issues and accompanying crises in natural resources and food security, established the Japan Parliamentarians Federation for Population (JPFP), the world’s first supra-party organization committed to population issues, with the objective of enhancing Japan’s international cooperation in this area and passing on to the world the lessons learned from Japan’s experiences.
MissionJPFP has contributed to addressing population and development issues by identifying challenges in this field and making recommendations to governments and parliaments in Japan and beyond.
