Contribution to the establishment of regional fora and national committees on population and development
Since its establishment in 1974, JPFP’s efforts in driving parliamentary activities on population and development led to the creation of regional parliamentary fora dealing with these issues all over the world. As the secretariat of JPFP, APDA continues to support the establishments of national committees on population and development and promotes their activities. Such contributions include: the establishments of the Vietnamese Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (VAPPD) in 1992, the Cambodian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (CAPPD) in 2000, and of Djibouti Parliamentary Group on Population and Development (GPPD) in 2020. Their initiatives have made much progress in legislation and budget mobilization for population-related areas.
