The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Asia and the Pacific Regional Office (APRO) held a workshop on 1-4 October in Bangkok, Thailand, to improve the financing of sexual reproductive health (SRH), and the Asian Population and Development Association (APDA) supported the participation of parliamentarians and representatives of the National Committees on Population and Development.

In the workshop, participants deepened their understanding on how investing in SRH contributes to sustainable development, and discussed strategy plans to improve SRH financing in their respective countries.

According to UNFPA, each dollar invested in ending preventable maternal deaths and meeting the unmet need of family planning by 2030 will bring economic benefits of USD 8.4 by 2050, and these returns are even greater for investments in ending harmful practices such as female genital mutilation and child marriage.
